Messages to more than 5 members & Social Groups
We are working on getting a SW Ohio Camaro Club going and have been sending private messages about events to members in the area. Private messages are limited to 5 members yet I have a list of about 50 members to notify about events.
Is there a way on Camaro5 that I can send a message to about 50 members at once? I'm working on getting member's email addresses as an alternative to PMs. What advantages do "Social Groups" have over regular forum postings? |

Mods can do it. Send a PM to one of them and they can do it on your behalf.

is it anything super secret? you could post a thread in the location section and update it.

We just set up a group e-mail list on MSN. We post the event in the Social Group area and the send out a mass e-mail to all of our members. We are up to 50 members now - so that works out the easiest. The admins aren't going to want to do all of your group e-mails for you - I dont think?!

The Social Groups advantage is that you have an area to post your events that are specific to your group instead of posting it to a whole region that might have little interest in what your group is doing. It would be helpful to have "child boards" for each region but the admins aren't receptive to that idea.
Check out our Arizona All Gens Social Group and see how we do the postings. Nick |

Thanks for the info.
I don't want to bug the mods unless we are planning a major event. We post event info in a thread but with this being a very active forum, it may be tough for that thread to be found among all the other new postings. I’d like to get a larger, active local club going so I’d rather push event info out rather than people having to finding it. I’ve been gathering email addresses and will have a mail list in my MS Outlook for now. We’ll consider the Social Group for future activities. |
