Window Tint

So I'm thinking about getting the windows tinted. A couple years ago I went to a place and had the windows on a different car tinted, and the guy who did it kept the engine running and the heater on max for the entire hour that he worked on it..

I know that's probably to make sure the tint adheres to the glass or whatever, but is that typical of most tinting places? I mean, I'd rather not have my car idling for a whole hour or more, and the heater running at full blast, unless that's just the usual process.

Thats a first. Ive bought a new car every year since 08 and i have gotten each one tinted and none of the shops ive gone to have ever done that. I wonder why your tint shop did do that. Was it cold out when you got your tints done? There is no need to have the heater on. Also I had one of my cars tinted when it was winter time and the next morning the water left behind the freshly applied tint had froze over but nothing happen to my tint.

It may have been slightly cold outside, but not freezing cold. He did the work inside a garage and I don't recall it being all that cold.

So that's good to know that keeping the engine running during the whole process is, in fact, not standard protocol..

I don't guess anyone around the Oklahoma City area might happen to know of a reputable window tinting place?

When I had mine done. They used heat lamps. It helps with drying the water out. This was done a year ago and so far no problems.

When I had my tint installed, I was told to park out in the sun as it will help the fluid and air pockets dry out faster.

Heh, I had my tint done last summer when temperatures were over 100F. No problem with drying it out.
