Talking Tracking performance increase with mods

The stock set up is running consistent at about 13.1.

The VaraRam intake goes on this week, so I thought I would track the progress doing one mod at a time. I'll run several passes after each mod to see what they do in the real world, using the patented "butt-dyno" and track times. The car is not going extreme and the mods won't get installed fast.

Here's a video of my best run with a bone stock SS RS LS3.

The VaraRam is advertised to pick up 2-3 tenths, but I believe tires are the biggest hold back.

+1

Tires can make or break a run.

Got the VR installed last night and put 40 miles on it. Need to run it 100 miles before running it hard.
The first thing I noticed was how smooth it ran. No more bucking at low speeds and silky smooth cruising.

Should be able to get it to the track for some testing on Friday night.

It's always great to track progress.

One thing that always needs to be considered is the Density Altitude.

My car (prior to converter) ranged from 12.16 to 12.40 depending on the DA at the track (temps in the 50s vs temps in the 80s). So a 30 degree difference in temperature was worth .26 at the track.

So the DA needs to be very close to accurately track an increase in performance from a mod.

My experience shows that for every 10 degree decrease in temperature, my car will run .1 faster.
Cars running in cold air have a huge performance advantage.

VaraRam installed pictures

I planned on using this calculator to help eliminate the DA factor.
http://www.dragtimes.com/da-density-...ect+ET+and+MPH

Here's a couple pictures of the install. I used a black coupler instead of the red one supllied, installed black hose on the radiator mount bolts, installed a 90 degree PCV barb that will get painted black and the rubber hose will get replaced with braided when I figure out the final routing. Makes the rest of the engine bay look boring... gotta do something about that soon!

Not tune model, but may tune it after some more mods. So far... no CEL.

I got some impressive results with a tune model Vararam and full exhaust. My thread is in this forum somewhere, the secret to power is my tune, that made the car go crazy.

OK.....it's not a performance mod, but it looks good. A bunch of sanding, then black paint and several coats of clear with black candy in it. The texture on the sides of the engine cover is now high gloss. The center was done with wrinkle coat paint. and the PCV line was changed to a braided line, then added chrome allen head bolts to the top.
