Lightbulb Catch-Can Decision 2016

I don't understand which side is correct, in the catch-can necessary vs unnecessary 2016 debate. Should it be used liberally, conservatively or not at all?

I use a good elite catch can, it is needed and used in racing on many models of cars engines, and those two cans may appear pretty but its what is on the inside that counts and whether it can condense the oil vapor. Or you could just foul up the intake tract all you want with blow by..........

A little hint, take the top off of that Catch Can and take pictures of the inside. Then cut the top off of a soda can, and compare, see the difference, looks very similar?

99% of all "catchcans" on the market, especially the "EBay" variety, trap and retain less than 15% of the total of the compounds you want to catch, and even the better of the bigger brands trap no more than 30% on average, there is little they actually do to prevent the issues a proper system will. If you have technical questions, just ask and were happy to share.

Actually all jokes aside I am thinking about getting one as a little peace of mind going past 60,000 miles in my car.

I would use an Elite. Much better performance than those cheap ones. But if you do buy one, I too would love to see a picture of the inside.

I still need a clean side separator!

I don't have a supercharger or a turbo, nor do I race. So it's an unneeded expense I'll pass on.

For what it's worth my dad has owned several small blocks in my lifetime that loved a quart of oil every now and again later in life.

Catch cans would keep that blow by from circulating through your intake! That's my understanding at least

Been thinking about one also, not sure which one to get. I have seen some like the OP has on eBay also.

Elite on my LS3, Elite on my dad's LFX. This isn't the product you want to cheap out on. Buy your neon/L.E.D. lights and other non-essential crap off Ebay, don't go cheap on this
