In the hands of??? Chevy??? The guys that pull 1.6x on stock tires??? The guys who use simulators (Al O.) to say that the ZL-1 will beat the GT-500 on the strip?

So seeing as there has not been a direct comparison on the last part. I feel as if I know which car im leaning towards performance wise. MRC can only sweeten the deal so much... They both look great would love to have them both.

As much as LOVE the look of the ZL1, I'm dissapointed as hell in its stock straight-line performance. I could "settle" for the look of the Shelby as long as it solidly runs in the 11's, but I won't "settle" for a ZL1 that struggles to even get into the low 12's...even if it does look MUCH better in my opinion. Unless the ZL1 were to magically (or should I say miraculously?) get a bump of 100hp or more from GM, I don't see one in my future :(.

I'm waiting a bit longer to see how the C7 Corvette looks (without the camo) and performs before I make my final decision, but more than likely my next vehicle will either be a low mileage C6 Z06 or a new Shelby.
What's so ugly about the Shelby?

You already drive an 09 gt500, pretty obvious to everyone which way you're leaning.

Not ugly, to be sure.

But design has been around since 05, dated when compared to the Camaro ...

Wow...this is just plain silly to say mph doesnt matter. MPH shows what the car is CAPABLE of ET wise with a decent short time.

116mph will only be good for mid 11's AT BEST. More like high 11's on average.

127-129mph on the other hand will put u in solid 10's!!!

So basically a FULL second.

Again thats HUGE.

Ok, I`ll bite, mph is coulda, shoulda, woulda... I have run so many cars who out mph me in the 1/4 and I out ET them. Its all about the setup and putting power to the ground as well as power under the curve when drag racing. How many Supra`s making 1k hp have you seen running 11.00`s at 150 mph? I have seen 3. Not because they are spinning off the line either. Sure tires will help the 500 but you have to be able to drive it at that power level and the setup makes a huge deal. I ran w/ in 4 tenths ( he ran 10.46@14x) of a 2010 800rwhp shelby 500 that had a drag race setup and hooked it for that run. That was his best run of the day, most of his runs were in the 10.7`s. I have beat several other Shelby`s w/ 100+ more rwhp than me. The 800rwhp one is the only one to beat me so far at my local track here in VA. It only took him 264 more rwhp to beat me by 4 tenths. If I was at 600rwhp I would have beat him easy.

The ZL1 comes in automatic and the 500 doesn`t, and I think the average ZL1 driver in an automatic car will beat the average 2013 GT driver, stock for stock 9 times out of 10 down the 1/4 mile. Now this is just my opinion we will have to wait and see if this bears fruit or not. Manaul zl-1 I do think the 500 will win.

127-129mph on a manual car does not put 99% of drivers in the 10`s, automatic car yes, manual no.

I`m not all that impressed w/ the 2013 500, they basicly just turned the boost up, you could have done that w/ the previous model, yes I know the motors diff, and there are other improvements, but you are not going to be able to add much boost percentage wise to the 2013 like you did with the previous models over the stock level. I also understand this 5.8 has more compression. 2012 guys don`t run out and trade your 500`s in in my opinion. But then I`m not at all impressed w/ the ZL1`s 1/4 mile abilities either.

Personally I think take a 5.0 boost it or take a SS and boost it. faster, lot less money, if you want a 1/4 mile car. But thats just me , I don`t like being parted from my dollars.

No need to get into all that since from the start u said basically exactly what i said. Shoulda woulda COULDA (can) meaning capable. Thats all i was saying is what the car would be capable of.

Also you know damn well 116 in a car like the ZL1 will not get you a 11sec slip 99% of the time. Especially with a M6. Mid 12's on average and low 12's at best with a high 11 hero run here and there.

Yes a properly set up car just for the dragstrip can run mid and high 11's @ 116mph but not ZL1.

I ran 11.6@117 but that was with big and littles. No sway bars. Slicks. 3200 stall and 1.5 sixty foot. No ZL1 off the showroom floor will run a 11.6@117.

I was a chevy guy long before I was a ford guy. I also have a brand new 2012 Silverado. I am a crossbreed. When it comes to performance IMO the GT500 is better. When it comes to looks I like them both.
