I just had mine installed last week by a speed shop, no way I was gonna do it myself! The install took a lot of time but most of it was removing the OE bushings, what a PITA! The gears went in with no shimming needed and bearings were perfect. The only thing they had to get was a new pinion seal, he didn't like the way it looked so opted to replace.
On the highway it ran about 150 rpm higher, 1950@73 MPH. Initial hwy MPG dropped by 2 from 26 to 24 but it still meets what GM claims so I'm happy. I haven't done much city driving yet so in a couple weeks we'll see what my average MPG is. These gears really make a difference off the line! I don't drag race but wow you defiantly have to be faster at shifting! The revs come up a lot quicker! The gears are quiet as a mouse too! |
