Rear Ended last night

On my way home, I stop at a light and get hit from behind. Driver has no insurance so I'm waiting on an estimate now. Anybody have any idea in how much the damages may cost. This is my first time ever bring involved in an accident.

I'll try to get some better pics

how the hell do people get away with not having insurance? if I tried that, I wouldn't be able to get out of my driveway without going to jail!
I know there is some officers on this forum, can you guys input on how they do it?

That's gonna be more than 1500 unfortunately. I'd guess 2500 min, probably more.

I have some experience in this, as I too was rear-ended about 2 months ago by a driver without insurance. I wasn't in the Camaro though, but it did total my pickup.

The other driver did present an insurance card to the officer at the time.
But when I went to file the claim with them, that is when they told me his policy had expired.

When that happens, you go back to your insurance company and they will file the claim (it won't be a chargeable accident), so you don't have to worry about your rates.
Your insurance will take care of the damage to your car, assuming you have full coverage.
But you will have to pay your deductible for now.

Now the good part. Your insurance company will go after the other driver with a vengeance!
They will start the process to have his license taken away, and won't let up until he pays them back for your claim.
You will get your deductible back then also.

Bottom line is he will either pay them back or lose his license.

Note: This is what happen in the state of Missouri.

Turns out my truck was totaled. My insurance gave me "retail" value for the truck, and is now in the process of getting their money back from the guy that hit me.
Their lawyers won't give up until they get their money back either.

I'd call that $5,000 to $7,000 - you've got fascia, exhaust, and rear quarter, plus trunk lid/floor and potentially rear suspension...

Looks like a pretty hard hit - were you injured?

Ugh! What a mess. Sorry that had to happen to you. How do people NOT have insurance? You shouldn't be penalized for that, but I've heard horror stories.... Best of luck to you.

My rear end collision last July looked similar and it was just over $6500. Will depend on what all needs replaced or repaired.

Ha... Yea, it's just cheaper for the insurance company to raise their rates a few bucks on everyone than pay their lawyers to go after an uninsured driver. They'll just write it off and jack up our rates to recoup it. Welcome to insurance! Unless there's a massive injury they have to cover, I'd be willing to bet that douchebag will never hear from the insurance...
Sorry to be pessimistic, but that's how it usually works around texas... I've been hit 3 times in my driving career, all 3 by uninsured drivers. One of them was a friend of mine in high school pulling Into the school parking lot!
Now on a happier note... Glad you're ok! Sorry about your baby! Bit it looks fixable... Keep us updated!

I'm ok. Had some slight pain in my neck but the hospital found nothing wrong. No one was injured bad.
