I'm sorry i missed it, i didn't get out of work in time.... But i am a little shocked at the times of the ZL1..... My 2002 Z/28 runs low 13s, with a best of 13.12.....Mine only has a CAI and Nitto NT05 tires.... I don't think we should rag on the driver, at least he showed up to have fun... As soon as it gets cooler, I'll be at Atco to make a few runs, hopefully i can run against these guys.

Maybe issues like these are why they new cars are have been on and off QC hold, and not shipping. I know I read in a couple of places that GM was touting the ZL1 as an 11.9 sec car. I haven't seen anybody do close to that.
Read the threads showing the new deliveries that are complete but not shipping. Those folks are angry, but if they're being held to get the performance issues fixed before they ship, they'll be much better off. Those 1/4 mile times are horrible! I guess they decided the 3rd run wasn't necessary. They should have let the Stang driver make a run in the ZL1 to see what he could do. Geno |

Why are zl1 trap speeds consistently so low? Has anyone seen traps as high as GM did yet? It seems like these cars MUST be pulling timing for some reason.

First off, a ton of folks think they are gonna run super duper fast just because they spent a ton of money on a semi Exotic car with a ton of HP and it doesn't always happen.... Skill has a part to play in it also and familiarity with the car... I'm sure this car will do better with experience and trial and error.....

Best 60 on street tires I've been able to muster is 2.36. ZL1 simply does not hook up on steet tires.

Agreed. This car needs some upgrades. I guess the GT500 will be the king pony car for a while. It has won the drag strip, the dyno, and even the place ZL1 fans thought it had no chance........the road course. Nothing else to be proven. Good job Ford...and with a solid axle.

It's just simple math. The more ZL1's get to the track, the better the chances are to get better times, especially toward the winter time. Let's take my Pontiac G8 GXP (bone stock) for example. For awhile my 12.933 would have been number 5 on the Camaro SS showroom stock times. As time went on, a lot more Camaro SS were being put on the street and a lot found their way to the track. As of this time, my car would be number 13 on the same list. The same thing happened with my 09 Vette. At one time I was at number 4 or 5 on the showroom stock list, then I sold the car. My name is still up at number 8 on the list. Some of you guys need to take a step back and chill. This is a very good car, just give it some time for better weather and time to get more cars to the track. Hopefully both drivers will have more seat time and more time to practice the launches at the track.

Had the 500 been on street tires the times would have been a bit closer, probably 12:40s -12:50s as a few actual owners have run this for times completely stock on unprepped tracks. still a solid 4 tenths quicker than the ZL1.
At first I thought maybe the ZL1 needed a break in and that's why the times were slow but really the car has been on the road for 3-months now and we have only seen a few low 12s by actual owners, with 580hp on tap low 12s should be the norm, the mph also seems off. From what I have seen so far I'd love to line up against one in my 392 automatic car. I like it's odds. How about a Mid Atlantic Shootout between stock vehicles at VMP?
