Right now all I want is proper operation of the top so I can use it as when I first purchased the car and an extended warranty on the top, frame and water management system.
Whenever possible, it's helpful to reference some key words contained in your factory warranty to describe the problem. That gives them less wiggle room to interpret your issues as anything but what they are obligated to cover for you. It also gives the specialist an easier path to a solution for you as (s)he won't have to find another means to describe the issues. Being polite is just plain common sense.

Best of luck to you!

Here is a new picture I took this morning that really illustrates how far out of wack my top is.
This is when it's fully in the up position before it is latched
Oh and I looked down into the top well and saw at least 5 points per side that can be adjusted.

That is just absurd. Looking forward to hearing how your meeting with the District rep goes. It would be helpful to all owners if GM (US and Canada) could identify a more standardized, practical approach. Frankly, a blanket extended warranty and replacement of frame/fabric of any affected units would be the right thing to do. Not the cheapest, mind you, but certainly the most fair. GM's warranty costs to dealers for labour/contracting out repair/car loaners etc, when added up, are likely lower than this. But when we factor in the costs we incur by being w/o our cars, and most importantly, loss of confidence in the product (reputation), someone needs to present a business case to them. Their slipshod approach, as shown in your photo, is simply unacceptable and is going to cost them market share.

First they need to have people trained to install the new top and frame. Just getting one is not the answer. I really didn't need a new top and frame but their "expert" said I needed one. Since nobody at the dealership has a clue about the tops they listened to this bozo and swapped mine. So instead of one small issue I have two new BIG ones AND the origonal small issue is back.

I just got off the phone with the customer service specialist. I gave them my story and the issues I am having. I also laid out what I was wanting. It just so happens another dealer 20 miles from my house has a in house top guy trained on these tops. The Specialist is going to get in touch with them to get me an appointment. Hopefully this week.
Update: I already got a call from the other dealership. I now have an appointment at 1 tomorrow for them to look at it.
Wish me luck.

That is good news, quick action. Hope you are the route to success here. It is very apparent that this work needs someone who has some experience. Unfortunately, most of that experience is from other bad tops.

Well we get several top down days during the winter, I want it ready for when those days happen. Like the day I took this picture last winter.

I had something like this happen after I had my top replaced. It turned out the Torx bolts on the top piece that attaches to the windshield frame when closed were loose. It was very odd, but after tightening them down all was well.

One thing the Service specialist asked was how many times my top had been replaced. I said this was the first. Then they asked when did I first notice the problems. I said as soon as I picked up the car. Then they asked how many times had I taken it back to get it worked on since, I told them 3 times, but it was only written up once.
I will post more tomorrow after I talk to the second dealer.

Best of luck with this. Assuming this "in house guy" is competent, it would be really helpful and perhaps reassuring to many of us if you could ask for and provide some feedback on common issues/solutions to improper replacement jobs. For example, the issues with the metal braces that are not going down all the way, or the top not going all the way down upon closing. Are these commonly attributable to "new" or "tight" fabric, or are there other issues at play? Hope everything goes well for you.

Well the Saga continues... Everyone seems to agree the top has issues but nobody knows how to fix it. I went to the second dealer and their top guy said either the fabric was still too tight or the frame was warped. He couldn't fix it. They were going to send me to the shop they used before but they are no longer in business because the owner died. So they called another dealer and asked who they used, then sent me 20 more miles down the road only to be told the same thing, yeah there is a problem but don't know what to do.
So I ended up wasting 3 hours, drove 60 miles and I know no more than before.
The second dealer is supposed to talk to the district service rep tomorrow and see what path to take next....
