phk36,

I'm attempting to message you back regarding your latest concern, but keep getting the following message:

"phk36 has chosen not to receive private messages or may not be allowed to receive private messages. Therefore you may not send your message to him/her."

Can you adjust this so we can communicate privately? Thanks!

If you are asking me it was outsourced to a shop that has been working on convertibles for 30 years....

Warranty work does not appear on CarFax reports, they get their info from insurance companies. If you don't have an insurance claim more than likely you will never see in in CarFax.

Not exactly true. To wit:

I've been following both of my old Carmaros on CarFax and both reports show routine oil changes, state inspections, one had body work, and one had wheel repairs. Both show mileage at each service visit.

CarFax can be hit-or-miss, depending on the integrity of the dealer.

The ones I have seen just say service performed, I have not seen one that lists details of the service. Only one time I have seen a dealer list one as "Washed and Detailed" which I find funny because the other ones just say "vehicle serviced", all at the same dealer.

As mentioned, it depends on the dealer's integrity and/or attention to detail. Many can't be bothered submitting elaborated data.
Plus, service performed by private shops will rarely appear on a CarFax report.

Trust me, when you're in the market for a high-end automobile, you'll see all sorts of minutiae on a history report. (There are others beside CarFax)

You can always give the VIN to the service dept guy at the counter and tell him you would like to see what warranty and service was run. Most all will do it, haven't seen one who hasn't yet.

Very good point.
I considered buying an Avalanche which was a Demo and had been driven by the Sales Manager's wife for over a year with 21,000+ miles.
According to their own records, the car hadn't been serviced since it was prepped at 3 miles.
