wow...i remember back in the mid 70s.was given moms 1972 galaxie 500 with 351 4v in exchange for selling my 67 mustang.she had always run 89 octane in it,so i ran the tank down low and started using sunoco 260(100 octane) and advanced the distributor then retarded it until it barely stopped knocking.turned it from a knocker and pinger into a tire burner.she borrowed it one day to go to the store and i knew i would here about it when she turned out of the driveway,gave it a bunch of throttle and left 30 feet of rubber on the road.back on topic i use 89 octane,summers here are hot and humid so 87 is a non starter for me.tried a couple of tanks of 93 with no real difference.

I know it's an old thread. But I wonder if anyone else ran premium only because they could get it in non-oxy. Up here I only drive the car 5 (maybe 6) months. I don't want that ethanol sitting in the tank for 6+ months.
That's what I did prior to my upgrades and tune. Now I'll have to figure out how to run E85 all summer and then get it all out and put in 91 non-oxy for winter storage.
