Black or Chrome wheels?
So me and my father have been having a bit of a debate the last couple days about wheels. I'm looking at getting some new wheels, and the ones I've been looking at have mostly been black. My reasoning for this is because I have an all black car. My dad, on the other hand, doesn't like black wheels and keeps telling me I should get chrome ones. I have nothing against chrome, and i actually like it most of the time, but the only chrome on my car is the Camaro emblem on the side and the tail light bezels, so I just think chrome wheels would look out of place on an entirely black car(with tinted windows too) and I would only get chrome wheels if I had more chrome on the car to go with it.
Anyways, I figured I'd open up my family debate to y'all and see what opinions we have on Camaro5. |

I think chrome was played out long ago, black is recently played out, and with all the options available now you could do better than either. Just my opinion though. Go with what you like.

Cant go wrong with either on a black car but every other black Camaro has black wheels these days. I say go for chrome to be a bit more unique.

I like black wheels on all cars except black. On black I would do silver, gunmetal or a machined look.

IMO Chrome, and and Black Chrome look great on a black car. A machined center spoke area with a chrome barrel surround looks great too.
Not trying to b a jerk, but I hate the term played out, because it's been done so much. If so putting custom wheels on your car is played out. Do what you want. I am probably going to go with chrome because it seems everything other than chrome is overdone, or played out... It seems there are not very man chrome fans here but I personally love chrome wheels. So much easier to keep clean and they look great next to glossy paint.

I agree, I cringe every time I see someone post that.
In this world of I want the latest and greatest now and next week it's old news... LOL this coming from someone who builds a new computer every year and buys a new car every two years hahahaaa. I plan to keep my Camaro though. But some of these new models they keep releasing it's getting tough!

Go with Chrome, Chrome always looks great and Chrome brings out the look so much more, I am not a fan of black wheels, the black wheels take away to much from look, when I see a 5th gen with Chrome and one with black, the Chrome just looks so awesome.

Well I definitely understand the argument about black wheels being harder to keep clean(i have the black heritage rims right now) It'd still match the rest of the car though(black car + dirt driveway = washed once a week yet still dirty all the time ). I love some chrome rims, but with the rest of my car giving off a sorta low profile look I just didn't want the rims to pop that much
Either one could look pretty good, hence the reason I haven't yet bought any of the rims I've liked, I know as soon as I get them I'll wish I had waited and got a different one, but isn't that how it always goes? |
