Scammer/thief

New member who posted as looking for a paddles shifter for my 2010SS. I received a pm from member Ipatri that he had the set from Hurst available. Agreed to buy but only using Zelle would get payment done. Never having used Zelle before, I went ahead and paid. Now he has ghosted me and I find out their was a middle man who never met the Ipatri person. The Zelle payment is not reversible so I'll chalk it up as a loss. He has Ridler wheels for sale here as well. Please be careful Tried to message an admin here but apparently there arent any. Im a long time member of the Corvette forums and any time I needed an admin- it took only minutes disappointing

WTB adds seem to attract scammers that say "Hey, this guy has them, email here". I wouldn't respond to anyone for a WTB unless they are a longer time member.

The for sale section here is always full of scammers. Be sure to vet any transaction you are considering very carefully.

I usually look at someones profile before buying stuff. Most of the scammers joined within the last month or two. Lots of them their profile says they drive a BMW, lol. They also claim that you need to email someone specific regarding purchasing something. If they don't want to deal with you on the website they are a scammer. Sorry you went through that. 9/10 legit people will sell/buy through paypal goods and services. I only use Zelle when I personally know someone or they are a trusted long time member.

Found out today, this guy used my $200 Zelle payment to buy bitcoin from another individual dealer. Its not the money, I'll find this guy and take whatever action I can. As a retired LEO, dont want this guy to burn anyone else

So Zelle will tell you what he spent the $200 on but wont refund you?
I wont be using Zelle for those two reasons.

Zelle is nice if you know the person.. or if you have product in hand. other than that always use PayPal. Even Venmo. I don't trust.

scam

I only have used Paypal previously. knew nothing of Zelle. They do not communicate with you. I found out through a 3rd party what this guy did. I hadnt been able to find the Hurst paddle shifter anywhere and this guy sent me pics here of one he had. Probably found a pic elsewhere. Still looking into it thanks

Just got scammed by this guy as well... Cost me $100, and I'm trying to get my bank to go after him. I used ApplePay instead of Zelle, but I think I'm out of luck (and money).
Lesson learned - get parts in hand before paying :-(

Paypal goods and services is probably the safest. I must have used it a hundred times. I used a Walmart money order to get some parts I really wanted (entire Z28 suspension including diff) but I about had an anxiety attack until the guy showed up with the parts. He did have a pretty good iTrader rating on the Corvette forum. Even Paypal won't get around description issues like the parts being way more worn than in the pictures.

BTW
I have the email address that he used, as well as the phone number that the ApplePay money went to. If that would help anyone else out I'll put it out there... Maybe post a picture of his bloodied face after you find him!
