True but the viper has always had respectable F.E. for its power out put.

But you don't buy a viper for fuel economy!

I also love how the side profile brings out a lot of the cues of the 1st generation Viper. Kinda retro...if you can call the 90s retro ha ha.

Does it fit for a Viper, or is it a little too 'on the nose'?
factory version looks cleaner, but nice try.

What year is the 34 mpg corporate average? 2014?

Wasting engineering time and manufacturing on big cubic engines is a trip back to bankruptcy.

Hardly, cars like the Viper are so low volume that it won't effect cafe. As long as they can make money from them they will be developed and built. Do you think GM should stop in investing in the Corvette? All 3 should stop investing in V8 Pony cars?

Except being profitable keeps you a long way from bankruptcy. And V8s sell very well and are extremely profitable.

V8s still sell pretty well today and now that we are used to $4/gallon and it is less of a shock, you'll likely see V8s continue to be in demand until the governement throttles the companies even further with CAFE and emissions regulations.

So V8s don't lead to bankruptcy, it was pretty much not being able to sell more V8s that was GMs problem. Gas hit $4 and people ran from the V8 in shock, primarily in Full Size Trucks. That segement has now stablized and the Two U.S. OEMs and Chrysler now selling FSTs in good numbers again.

So building and selling V8s does not and did not lead to bankruptcy. Engineering, building and selling what the customer wants is ususally a pretty good business model.
