CONVERTER QUESTION.

OK guys, gotta toss this out there because I'm learning about converters as I go since this it the first "stalled" car I have owned and have had it with the 3200 for 2 years now. I just got my Circle D 5c Pro Series 4000-4200 delivered today and need a little education from you guys that know. After I have it installed what has to be "retuned" in the tranny tune to have it function correctly versus the 3200 I have now ? I chatted with Brian @ Circle D and he says that is a radical change from what I had and that at WOT it may not shift and hit the limiter, but that at normal driving it might/should shift ok. He says I should be alright just driving normally until I can get it retuned. As always, thanks for your information..

What was wrong or different with your old converter other then a lower stall?

Thanks guys. To answer your question SUPERMAN_ZL1, the stall was just too low for the power range of where the cam started pulling hard. When I got on it at WOT and the converter flashed it would drop back down to around 3200 and between there and 4000 it just had a flat spot, then at 4000 she just "came alive" and pulled like a freight train all the way to 7200 shift point, So I figured I'd do like the guys were saying all along and get a stall that would get me into the power band quicker from the get go. And thanks gunchamp for the heads up !! You to Bo..

Sorry bro, just remembered I didn't answer your question on my current tune on the tranny. Right now it is set to be locked in all of my manual gears so it doesn't slip any so I can keep the trans temps down after some "spirited" driving in sport mode where it doesn't lockup until 50mph in 4th gear. At that speed the car will buck a bit because the rpm's are too low at that speed, so I down shift in manual mode for any of my driving 45 and under so the rpm's are higher and she doesn't buck and is locked. Above 50 when it is locked, it's alright because we are going faster and the rpm's are higher, no bucking. Also the part throttle shifts under normal driving seems to be around 3500 for each gear in sport mode and at WOT the shift points are set at 7200 with redline at 7400.
