Dusty?

I am tired of cleaning my wheels only to drive a couple miles and find them full of brake dust again. Anybody have a fix for this,or do we all have to learn to live with it?
Thanks,Jim

Good ceramics produce the least in my experience but they also require more heat to work so you end up getting on them harder. I prefer them but some people don't.

The Brembo pads throw off a lot of dust. Many people have switched to HAWK pads.

I have Powerstop pads on my Hellcat and my wife’s 2018 2SS. Easy to change and perform great on the street. But most important.... nearly no dust at all.

One thing to keep in mind as a general rule with brake pads.

The greater the stopping performance, the higher the dust.

For daily driving, I use Hawk yellow ceramic pads on my ZL1 with the Brembo brakes.

For track days, I re-install the stock brake pads.

This is good advice. Hang on to the stock pads if you do change them out. Just in case you decide to track your car. For every day use the ceramics will work fine and accomplish what you want when it comes to eliminating dust

Yeah, I’m pretty anal about clean wheels too but I like to know those dirty bastards are there if I need em! I always assumed that it was a combination of pads AND rotors. There’s a clear wear pattern on my rotors after only 10K miles. As in, rotor material is GONE.

I hadnít thought of doing that. These stock pads create crazy dust

Power stop Z23 pads. Zero dust vs the stock Brembo pads.

Black wheels will still show brake dust regardless. Will look reddish in color.

This is true! When I went in to have my brakes replaced because they were getting very thin on my SS, the rotors had to be replaced as well, they are designed to wear with the pads and can't be turned or they will be out of spec and warp, is what I was told. I replaced the pads with the AC Delco semi metallic pads instead of the brembo pads and they are pretty much dust free. I have black and metallic maroon trimmed rims and am very anal about the dust too. They stay pretty clean with these pads, and the car stops pretty good if you have to..
