This is getting out of hand and is beginning to ruin this thread. If you dont have something more to add, other than name calling, please dont waste our time.

Thanks. Maybe having an independent (some might say 'different') outlook has an up-side after all

Meanwhile, I found somebody on a Mustang forum (not SVTperformance) had put up some pictures of 10.5" wide wheels on a Mustang that I might find useful to help me at least keep you guys in sight at places like NJMP. Hopefully that's not just wishful thinking.

Wow, I think you guys are taking this way to seriously. Both cars have their flaws, pic the one that has the flaws you can deal with, that's why I always chose the fbody over the mustang...its not complicated....

It's painters tape. It is used to identify the class and car number during autox events. Car was a couple days old. Don't worry I used paint thinner to get it all off and then used black spray paint to make it cleaner.....hopefully I don't change classes or numbers anymore cause I'm going to need a paint job......

Maybe that, and it weighs 242 pounds more with about the same horsepower.

But why is the discussion still centering around drag racing when the topic (including MT's and Randy's comments) is not really about the Mustang being faster, only feeling like it might be.

Edit, yeah, I keep falling behind here.

This in my opinion is a big negative. "Feeling" and not actually being quicker reflects a soft and less controllable chassis. On the other hand a car that feels slower than it is shows that it is very much in control, and that the chassis is capable of even more power.

The feeling is because the gearing is shorter. The track pack 5.0 if my memory serves me right has to be shifted to 5th in a drag race. Short gearing make the car snappy and lively. The highest gear (3.31) on the manual is still shorter than the 3.91 in the 1le when you look at the mph attained in each gear.

This ↑↑↑.

Trouble is, the marketing gurus tend not to see things that way. "Feeling quicker" is perception, which for most folks is reality even when it's wrong. . . which marketing hopes will translate to more sales. Grrrrr.

The Mustang's tip in response probably is just a little crisper - a number of top autocrossers have complained about it being TOO responsive for easy throttle modulation on corner exit. This persists just long enough to get the tail loose without being nearly long enough to be useful. For the average driver on the street, this'll make the car feel "snappier" without being faster/quicker under sustained WOT acceleration. Perception.

How did the how a "car feels" go from a handling perspective (intended point) to a discussion about gearing & acceleration?
