Absolutely. You can do whatever you want, the computer will prevent you from breaking stuff. In M, you're still just requesting the computer to shift the automatic transmission. I still wouldn't recommend making any stupid requests.

Going from M to D is just saying "go ahead and take control" and the computer will choose the best direction to go.

My buddy had his 08 corvette with paddles tuned in M mode to shift at redline everytime. It was tuned 2-300 rpms before redline to shift accounting the delay so it actually shifted at redline everygear. Now if you just shifted into m mode it was set to do this but if you touch the paddles it is manual until you shift out of m mode and back into it to reset the redline shifting. So his was nice you just shifted to m mode and raced knowing you would get redline shifting everygear and not even have to touch the paddles unless you just wanted to play with them!!

Call me out dated but thats something for me to know.. I know my sisters G6 you and move it up and down because it slides over to the right .... didn't realize the camaro would be able to shift up/down by using the shifter as well.. assumed from the pictures it didn't have room to toggle and shift.

ok, Outdated, he's talking about his altima, not the camaro

you cant shift up and down via the console shifter in the camaro.

no the auto doens't do that, you shift all teh way down into "M" and then you use the buttons on the back of the steering wheel to shift up and down.

the camaro does not do this
