Trade a 2013 m6 for automatic at an expense of $4000?

Would you trade a yellow '13 M6 for a white, black, or red '13 automatic with similar mileage (<7, 000) if you were upside down on trade $3,500-$4,000?

I bought a sports car so "I" could drive it; Not the other way around.

It really depends on what you plan on using it for. Manual is more fun. Autos are "generally" quicker.

The AY6 has been a disappointment, but I'm not sure I would spend that much to replace it with an automatic. Ultimately it is your money and your choice.

this is hard to answer.

if you absolutly want and auto then maybe.

people get all wrapped around the axel on 1/4 mile times. auto has different gearing proabably launches a tad better so it quicker.

4k in mods to a manaul though and that car will be night and day faster than a stock auto.

you might want to post in your exact motivation for wanting an auto then it is easier to justify is that worth 3-4k.

if you just don't like driving the manual and really want an auto then it becomes and issue of just get want you want. the labor and part cost on an auto swap at a shop would most likely be 3500-4k at min I am sure.

if doing it youreslf you could sell you tanny and clutch but auto to manual swaps do have some issues that take time if paying shop rate.

Why are most of the leftover 2013's automatics?

For those that say the automatic is faster, it is and isn't. In a drag race it is faster. On the track the manual will be faster. Just look at which transmission GM chose to do it's timed Nurburgring lap, as well as other well publicized timed laps like Car and Driver's Hot Lap.

I'm fine with Autos, but let's not piss on manuals. If this manual tranny is so bad, why did GM put it into their flagship Z/28? If it was so troublesome, why risk tainting your new "race car"? Doesn't add up for me.

I had an auto in my 99 Z28 and always wished it was an M6. So when I got my ZL1, it had to be a stick. But I wouldn't lose that much money to change from one to the other. I can see the pros and cons to either. Do what makes you happy. It's your money, spend it how you want to and have fun!

I'd say only you can decide if it's worth it to you to drop that much money in a trade situation. If it was just one tranny vs the other I would personally have an issue losing that much, however if it was that, plus, I wanted a different color or options or something I could justify it. Just don't let the manual tranny mafia find out that you bought an auto because they will tell you how it's now worthless and should only be driven by elderly women on the way to a bridge tournament.
