Ambient Lighting Door Panel & Dash

I looked through the forum but didn't see anything about being able to change out the generic paneling in the 1LT & 1SS (I also just got off of work and am tired, so I might have overlooked it if it's out there). The 2LT and 2SS come with that nice ambient paneling and I wouldn't mind putting that into my 1SS some time down the road. Anyone know of an aftermarket company that's making/going to make them? Or GM part numbers to "replace" them?

You can purchase everything at GM to do this. The visible plastic pieces do not light up themselves. There is a small bulb attached to a fibre optical tube behind the panels which gives the light. The good news is that you will also be able to install the ambient lighting if you want. The power wire that is needed is in your doors!

Are you sure the wiring is there on the 1LT and 1SS models? Has anyone verified this? I've heard many asking but never saw a response where someone verified it.

Look for this little plug in the picture below. It will take you 3 seconds to remove the side panel of the dash. If you see it, you can have fully functional ABL in your car.

How hard is it to change the color behind the speedo? From blue to orange?

I have no idea but I wouldn't want to try it and end up with an instrument cluster that rattles after.

It was supposed to but GM had trouble getting it to work correctly. Do a search on here for "ambient lighting" you'll have pleanty of reading material on the subject.
