Need block recommendations for future boost

part 3 of my bad luck spree includes a snapped rod and damage to my stock block Ls3 lol. What aftermarket blocks do you guys recommend for a N/a application now until I boost it later in the year. Thinking about going with an iron dart shp 427

If you’re going to swap blocks and plan on running boost you should get a 6 Bolt block. The less expensive options are iron. Dart shp ls next (pro is worth the extra $200) or GM LSX. If you have the money and dont want that extra 100#s, could always get the LSR, but its like $4300 before machining.

I found it about the same price and much easier to buy it assembled from TMS when a sale popped up.

What happened to your piston?

Yeah def doing 6 bolt I already have 260 prc 6 bolt heads. And the it was the rod that snapped in half from fatigue most likely motor had 90k miles with stock bottom end.

Could I run a na stage 4 cam on a block made for boost for the time being until I boost it? I know hp would prolly suffer but would it be drastic?

Well if you are for sure going boosted I would build it for boost and just add it later.
Most engines at this level that are built for boost put out decent N/A HP.
I mean really most cams made for boost have a wide LSA which will work good until you get the forced induction.
So I would build it with a cam with specs that are good for forced induction. Why pull heads again.

Just build it for boost and run it N/A

I would be using my old stage 4 f-35 cam with a 111 Lsa and prc260 6 bolt heads with stock cc size

Why!???
Is a camshaft for boost that expensive.
I would much rather spend the extra 400-450 right now for a cam that has the proper valve events for boost then have to pull apart the front end to change cams when you add boost.

But that’s your decision.

No lol I will be running the boosted motor for awhile N/A until I decide and save up for a power adder. I just want to future proof my block for later down the road since I’m replacing a whole new engine anyway

Absolutely. The only power loss would be from the heavier forged rotating assembly being a tad harder spin. You can run it NA now, then change the cam and springs later when you are ready for boost.

However, I personally wouldn't use anything from a blown motor in my very expensive new forged motor setup. Not even a cam that looks fine.

If you are shopping with TMS, you'll probably see their complete shortblock packages have a very appealing price, and come with a warranty. I wouldn't hesitate to run any of their boosted cams NA for a year or so, while you save for boost. The difference in cubes will make up for the cam. Probably never notice.
