SS Spare
Finally got a spare tire. Got it from the guy on Ebay. It came complete with tire, spacer scissor jack, and wrench $450 shipped. Fit pefect fit. I have the wheel spacer and lug wrench in the cargo net. I feel so much better driving with a spare.

Yeah, its a nice product. I wrapped my wrench in a towel (rag) and stowed it under the spare on the other side of the battery from the jack. No rattles and you'll need a rag when you change the tire anyway. But I couldn't get the spacer to fit, so I stowed it in the trunk with the original GM inflator. The inflator is quite small w/o the foam, and you can use it to add air to a tire with a slow leak (you can switch off the sealant).

How tall is the tire? Just be sure that if it isn't the same as OEM height, that you never use it on the rear axle. Different height tires back there could potentially ruin the differential inside the axle.
If you get a flat rear tire, you will have to put the spare on the front, and one of the front wheels on the rear.

It looks to be about an inch smaller in diameter (a little bigger than the OEM V6 stare) - probably equivalent to driving on a tire thats 10 psi low. But if I do have a flat when I'm a ways from home, I'll probably do go ahead and do the front/rear swap just in case.

I ordered from Joe as well, and it's en route via Fedex now. $457 shipped.
It was an easy transaction. I'll post up some pics when I get it. This is a great idea...frankly driving without a spare is just stupid. You cannot rely upon OnStar or AAA. Think about it...you're on the way to the beach with your girlfriend and BOOM flat tire. That means you call AAA or OnStar, sit 2 hours on the side of the road waiting for a Flat Bed. They tow your car to a dealer. Then the dealer tells you that they don't have a replacement in stock. So you have to get a hotel room and spend a night or two in a Super 8 along a turnpike somewhere...ummmm, why? Because you don't have a friggin spare tire. I have been there and doen this with my Corvettes...not fun. Get a spare.

What does this spare tire come from? What is the rim size and tire size? Also is it a 1.5" spacer?

Thanks for the info, I have been looking for one for a while. I while feel a lot safer having a spare when I drive to Phoenix for C5II.

Here is an expired listing.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Spare...ht_3729wt_1167 I contacted Joe directly, outside of ebay. Very smooth transaction through paypal. Everything is there that I needed.

I don't think it would make a difference so long as you are running 20 to 22 inch wheels. The spare seems to be about the same diameter as the 20". Shouldn't be a problem, when I get mine I'll measure the diameter and post it up.
