Tire advice

I was able to get 28,000 miles out of my stock Goodyear Eagle F1's, so I stayed with them for my first tire replacement. Keep in mind that my ZL1 is a daily driver and I've never beat it up on any track. I don't do burn-outs or donuts either.

No, my daughter was there, she's a Real Estate broker... She was surprised how many times I had to sign my name. She said "this is like closing on a house".

HAHA....dont think the Sport Cup 2 will be an upgrade in that area.

Also the most current bulletin states they crack when near 20 degrees, not 40.

What it says is don't drive on hockey pucks below 40 degrees, you will slide and die and don't store them below twenty or they will die.

Tire Advice Update

Thanks to all who have replied. I have decided to switch to MPSS's. I'll go with the 315/35-20 on the rear and stock size on the front. I have a winter vehicle so I can easily go with 45 Degrees as my lower limit. It appears that the GY's would work in those temps but I think I will have an easier time living with the MPSS's. I only DD right now.

Since my new ZL1's wintered at the dealership here in northern Indiana, I'm going to closely inspect the GY's for cracks before I take delivery.

I am planning on putting the Nitto NTO5R's on my rears do they hook better then the GY?

The 05R's are a drag radial and they hook great...That is what I use at the track...Drop them down to 24 lbs and I am off like a bullet out of a gun...These are a Warm tire and are absolute crap in the rain or wet streets. You won't get allot of mileage out of them...

Do the Michelin Pilot SS or Mickey Thompson Street Comps have the rim protector (not sure if proper term, but the way the GYs sticks out a quarter inch or so past the rim to protect the rim from curb rash) like the Goodyear?

Exactly what he says and to emphasize..... Watch out for the rain. They're slick when wet but dry and warm..... Hook like crazy.

I have MPSSs in 315 and 295 and they protect the rims better than the stock GYs did.

I put Conti DWS 315/35/20 on back and 275/35/20 on the front and see no down side. I get great traction in 50-60 degree temperature where the GD YRS at those temps had almost no traction. I do run the GD YRS in the summer months. At 80-90 degrees the GD YRS are great.

Personally I feel like they are leaps and bounds better then the stock F1's. I do not track my car, only 1/4 mile stuff. I use the Nitto NT05R's when I go to the track though. These are my street tires and you won't beat the price...No complaints about road noise either. Good luck with your selection, its hard to find a really good all around tire that you don't spend 1600.00 a set for. The M/T's are about 640.00 a set..roughly
Was just looking at these tires. The price is great. They look like performance tire. How do they hold up in cold temps? I'm looking for tires that will have max performance like the Goodyear in hot temps but also be drivable in cold temps. Are these a good all season tire with great performance when warm?
