Not very happy with my numbers after cam/bolt ons.

Maybe I was expecting to much, but the car felt strong when I bought it. "M6 Car"
I put a set of Texas speed 1 7/8th" headers on there with no cats, a varraram intake "non tune" and took it in for a tune to get the nanny's out of the way.

The car made 406/411 SAE 5 corrected.

Next up we decided to go with the Texas speed 231/236 cam package as it seemed to be super popular and proven in performance as well. While the install was happening we put on a Vmax throttle body, and did the coolant line re-route and added some NGK TR6 plugs... Tuner said it would like the one step cooler plugs over the TR5's that were in there.

The car made 459/420 Same dyno Probably around the same temps 85', near sea level.

I don't know when I added up the dollar per horse power it just seems like, I paid for a lot of sound heh.. I will post a pic of both graphs.

Question though: If I'm going from LT's to off-road pipe, to stock sized pipe, that runs into the H pipe and then back to a set of borla attak mufflers would it benefit me to dump the exhaust a little further back after the race pipes?

Pic#1 Intake, LT's no cats and tune

Pic#2 same mods + 231/236 Texas speed cam package, Vmax throttle body.

I know the torque stays longer, but this is on a dynojet as well... apparently the car is sitting at a 12.6 afr as I was told it lost power when trying to lean it out a bit.

What are you guys thoughts, I have no posts but I read tons and I know there are some very knowledgeable people on here.

I don't see anything wrong....

What were you expecting? 100 hp gain?

I understand where your coming from on the price, but I hope you talked to the shop who did the install on the plans/goals for your motor/car.

Lower than average numbers, but it could just be the dyno. Take it to another dyno and see what it does.

53 horsepower jump is on the lower end of the spectrum, but 9tq is really low. I went with the 235/239 tsp cam and I went from 415/418 to 495/450 on the same dyno. Went to a different dyno and only made 468/435. Its probably just the dyno you were on.

I was expecting to be more inline with what everyone else was getting or at least a little closer.

I guess I could try another dyno and see if the results are similar, I was hoping to be around 470/435 which would be like a median as to what it seems most people with a similar setup is getting.

Cam and Headers give you about 100HP gain everything seems about right.

I agree it's likely the dyno. Even your bolt numbers were lower than average which is a sign that dyno simply reads a little lower than the norm. Try another dyno.

That intake needs to car to be moving. That should add a bit.

H.P. is expensive. Personally, I dont think your too far off. Im hoping for 125 to 150 with a cam and pulley this Spring along with my bolt ons I currently have. Ive gotten quotes anywhere from 4900 and up to do the work with a tune. If your not doing the wrenching yourself, I think it becomes hard to justify the cost for the gains. In my case, the previous owner paid to install all the major bolt ons and the supercharger. So, this would be my first hunk of money I put into it. I keep wondering if its worth it to dump that kind of money into a SS when I could just sell it and buy a ZL1 or a GT500 with the same amount of mods and probably be alot faster.

Couple things: A) Never believe everything you read on the internet. B) Dyno numbers are irrelevant. C) Every car is different. Each motor will work at its peak at a certain afr, timing etc. D) I think expecting 100+ hp from a cam/headers is a bit presumptuous.
Drive your car....enjoy it for what it is.

besides the cam and the headers, you're correct. The rest is sound

Bottom line, how does it feel in the go department. My numbers were 473whp , 437 tq. The tuner put in TR55s and I couldn't even spin my tires. I put in TR6s and now I can even spin in 3rd. I also installed 3" exhaust and the car feels like it has more displacement over the 2.5" crap. More power everywhere, engine needs to breath. Maybe it's your tuner bud.

I honestly cannot feel a difference after the cam install...... The only difference I feel is from the Throttle Body giving me a little better throttle response.

It's pretty discouraging... well really discouraging I chirp 2nd that's it lol, which I did before the cam swap.

That leads me the the question in my previous post, Coming from the LT's to the Race pipes, could I dump the exhaust about 18-20" back and gain any power?

Something must be off then, after just my header install I could definitely feel the power gain. If you just gained 50 hp and can't feel a difference then....ya...

what were your base line numbers before any mods at all? really the only way you can determine your true gains. I also do agree with you though. on many dynojet's you'd typically be a 480-500hp car. these charts make you look like an A6 car rather than M6
