I just made the appointment for the gear install. Local shop with a great reputation. Monday morning at 7:30 is when I drop it off. Hoping to be able to pick it up that evening ready to rock!!

I have had my 3.91s in for a few weeks now and the difference is amazing. The car feels nimble and light as compared with the stock gears that came out of the car. I am extremely happy with the upgrade.

Good! It seems like the common change is to put 3.91's (13% increase over 3.45) in these M6 cars, and it's really leaving 6% more increase in rear gear ratio on the table than if you just went 4.10s (19% increase over 3.45). I think it all stems from the original 4.10 that was offered for these cars was the Richmond, and they had some significant problems out of the gate. Also, you can get OE 3.91's and folks tend to trust that a little more. You can even get whole 3.91 rear ends people have pulled out, so that makes the swap much easier.
I've had trouble with 4.10s - I ripped 5 teeth off a Richmond ring gear (gear's fault). I also had a crush collar fail resulting in a complete loss of pinion preload and hurt a set of Motive gears (not the gears fault - they still work fine, just permanently noisy). But I would still rebuild my rear every time with them - they are flat out awesome for an all-motor setup. If you have 600+rwhp you might want to get back down to something like a 3.73, but for most of us M6 guys with bolt on's or SBE NA setups, they are the way to go!

No, but imagine what 500rpm more at the finish would do for your trap speed...

My Camaro is in the shop getting the 4.10s installed. I'm waiting for them to call me and tell me it is ready. Hope there weren't any issues and I can pick it up tonight.

Oh boy.
I rarely take my vehicles to the shop to have work done. I decided to take The Camaro to a local shop with a good reputation to do the gears because I don't have enough experience to feel comfortable doing it. I've only done it a couple of times and it was years ago. So I made an appointment to drop the car off this morning (Monday). I dropped the car off this morning along with the new gears, true trac, install kit and new rear cover. They said it would be done by the end of the day. When I hadn't heard from them by 5:30, I called the shop. One of the younger technicians that I spoke with this morning answered the phone. When I told him who I am, he said: "Let me grab the owner. He needs to talk to you." Uh oh, that's never good. Owner gets on the line and tells me that there was a problem, but the car will be ready tomorrow (Tuesday) morning. I asked him to explain what happened. He said that one of his guys stripped a pinion flange bolt and no one in the valley has a new bolt. Then he covers the phone while he's talking to someone in his shop. Then he tells me the car will be ready Wednesday morning because that's how long it will take to get the bolt. I'm still processing all of this and trying to picture the diff housing in my head and I ended up just telling him to keep me informed on what's going on with the car and hung up. I still had a bunch of work to do before I could leave for the day, so I needed to get back to work. Of course after I thought about it for a few minutes, none of what he said makes any sense. What pinion flange bolt is he talking about? The driveline bolts? I'm thinking worst case scenario based on the fact that I don't think I was hearing the whole story. In fact, he wouldn't have said anything if I didn't ask him to clarify the "problem." I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt for now, but I sure feel uneasy right now. What do you guys think this dude did to my car?
