I wired in a 6 port USB port powered off the lighter socket and discovered the lighter sockets power off when you kill the engine.

Thought that this was going to be a how to add a USB port for the radio, as per the title Hardwire USB Port.
Perhaps the title should have been Hardwiring a USB Charging Port. |

Did this with my GPS. Came out great! I was going to use an add-a-circuit, but it didn't fit so I wired it up to the lighter fuse. This way it doesn't drain the battery if I leave it plugged in. Also, the USB power adapter came with a built in fuse so I didn't have to worry about that. Here are some pics. Thanks again for the idea.
