Is that something I can do myself or would have to take somewhere?

From what I understand, most people have them done by their dealerships actually. If you get them done at a Certified Chevy Dealership, then you keep your warranty. |

I ordered the 1LE gears (3.91) installed myself on an ls3, couldnt be happier ! Can't speak for the other ratios . The install was not an easy job but I figured it out and it was my first time doing gears on anything ...

of course you can install them yourself. But it's not as easy as say, building a transmission or engine. Installing rear end gears is a bit of a black art. Unless you know what you're doing, it will be faster and cheaper to have somebody do it.

I was lucky and got my hands on a full 1le takeoff rear diff for a lot less than a grand.

i had a gear shop do mine. took the diff in and i bought all the GM parts. less the $700 into it. I was already tuned so my tuner changed the calibration for free. takes 5 min.

I paid 260$ for the gm 1le 3.91 gears and 600$ for the installation. They recalibrated my speedometer but it's not done properly. Have to get it recalibrated again.. It's 7mph off.
