2014 Camaro SS brake issue
I have a 2014 Camaro SS with 18,000 miles on it. I have noticed the brakes sound like a very light metal scraping until I apply light pressure to the brakes. Then it stops. It's still under warranty, I would think the brakes should last a lot longer. Do you all think I need to replace the pads or do you think I should see if dealership will warranty the brakes for that low of miles? I know normal wear items like brakes are not normally covered.

I just looked at the brake pads and they are still really thick. The wear indicator isn't even close to touching. So, I'm just going to take it into dealership on Wednesday or Thursday and see what they say.

Do you drive it everyday? If not and it sits for a while rust can form on the rotors causing what you describe, but goes away after a few braking cycles.
Is it coming from the front or the rear?

I drive it everyday and it's in a carport when I'm not. I can be driving on I95 and hear it with windows down.

Took it in and they recut my front rotor. It wasn't cut all the way down and had a lip at the bottom that was rubbing on the brake pad. So, that's what I was hearing. They did it under warranty. So far, so good.

Sorry to hear that. I have the z28 replica rims and continental tires on mine. He drove it in the parking lot and didn't hear it. I went into the garage with the mechanic. He took all the rims off and we spun each one around and could hear the sound as the rotor turned and he used a flashlight and saw the rubbing at the bottom of the rotor. He said it wasn't smooth all the way down and had me rub my finger down it and felt the lip. It was smooth on the other rotors. I've been very happy with my dealership and they have treated me right. |

With the dealership resurfacing one of the rotors ended up not fixing the problem. It doesn't always do it and seems to do it at night or at least that's when I can hear it good. Not much traffic on the road at that time. I ended up taking a video of it to take to the dealership to have them listen to it and hopefully fix it this time. When I slightly push on the brakes it stops and it seems to start just before 40 mph.
