1LE Suede shifter on my 1LS

Said goodbye to my horrible plastic stock shift knob and pleather boot this morning, and swapped on the alcantara 1LE version.

Swap went easy, feels a ton better, now I'm itching to swap the steering wheel

Just needed a T-25, 7mm, and trim removal tool. Took all of 15 minutes this morning to make the swap.

Rotate the collar of the shift boot, and pull down. This exposes the screw for the shift knob (2012+), and using the T-25 I took out the screw and pulled the knob off.

Using the trim removal tool, I popped the silver cover off and moved it to the side, exposing the four 7mm bolts/screws that remove the shift boot.

Shift boot removed. Then I just reversed the process putting it back together.

Looks good man. Get some of this stuff and spray it on a Terry towel then wipe down every now and again it'll keep it looking good too...

Awesome, thanks for the link. I have a ton of Adams stuff, but never purchased this. This, plus a soft toothbrush should keep it looking good

No problem.

I've found that the nap on the Terry towels keep the Alcantara standing nicely. No brush needed.

Whenever you see a spot getting a slight sheen or it lays flat just spray that product on the towel and then vigorously rub the Alcantara with it. You'll be G2G.

I find I need to do it every couple of months and I live in FL so sweaty palms happen... lol

I've seen a few steering wheels on eBay for roughly 200 bucks. I bought one from a member and got it for a steal 120.00 bucks, I got a airbag for 150 and I even restitched it to orange to match the car interior thread...

Hey firefighter, I was looking at the 1le wheel and shifter but I was worried about the material getting bad. Does this process keep the wheel looking good too with the extra touching it gets?

I just don't want to drop 200 on a wheel and have it look like crap in a year. It's my DD

Yeah, my car is an original/early '13 1LE and my DD. Like I said FL equals sweaty palms. My Wheel and Shifter both look great. I do currently need to clean it though. This weekend the car is getting some love.

If you use a clean white towel to do the maintenance you'll be shocked every time though. Also a little goes a long way. I'm still on my original bottle of that stuff.

My GM parts guy told me that he can get me the wheel for about $180, I just need to find the correct part number because he pulls up the 4 different wheels in the system and wants my verification.

They do become a little warn in. But, I haven't ever cleaned mine and it stills looks/feels great with 11,000 miles. Just steal a bunch of wet naps from a restaurant to wipe your hands if they are ever dirty before driving!

Here is the P/N from a Stone stitched 1LE car a manual of course. Please disregard the orange I changed the color.

Sorry for bumping this thread. But does the boot stitching looks like silverish color compared to the knob white stitching?
