Hitting limiter too early in 3rd

Is there a simple solution to this? Ran last night at the track, got my fastest ET yet but hit the limiter in 3rd so early it was my slowest mph yet. I don't wanna shift to 4th cause although I shift petty damn fast i don't wanna hurt my time. Went 12.73 @ 109.2 and I really feel it coulda been a 12.6x at 112-113 if 3rd gear was longer. Also, side question, doesn't that seem a little fast for headers/ exhaust only no tune? I feel like the car is pretty fast for being basically stock

with stock 3.45 ratio max speed is 112 mph @ 6500 rpms. Get a tune and raise the limiter.( Depending on the DA ) your mph does not seem high. I was 108 mph when I was stock around 1700 DA.

Easy to raise the limiter....but you better make sure it can handle the revs.

Most people do. I wouldn’t raise the rev limiter just yet, Get yourself a raptor shift light. SRT ISNT WRONG. Skill first. Power later.

I know 109 isn't high, I've trapped 111.7 hitting the limiter right at the line in other passes, but if I couldve kept going this time i easily would've trapped over 112, I swear it felt like I hit the limiter a solid 60-80ft before the line. I feel like a see a lot of full bolt on street tire cars running 111-113. Guess the DA in Florida in December is real nice lol do people usually charge full price of a tune to just change the rev limiters?

Yep.... they don’t want you to leave with a “half assed” tune.

I would argue that if you already paid on a tune and asked the same shop to switch the limiter it is doubtful there would be a charge. It does not take long for me and I barely know what I am doing.

If they did charge I can't see it being much past 50 bux at worst. Worth asking.

Just my .02 cents which doesn't get you far these days lol

How tall is your rear tire? I went 112 in 3rd on a 28.7" diameter drag radials.

I'm running a stock size... 275/40/20. Think it's 40, either 40 or 45 on the side wall don't remember. Whatever stock is. But I don't think you realize.... I'm not hitting the limiter at 109, I hit the limiter and had enough time to coast down to 109 from 112 or 111 lol that's how soon I hit the limiter. Kinda frustrating

Got it. Sounds like it's time to put gears in it and pull 4th.
