2.5" vs 3"

Good video on differences. On high HP blower/turbo cars it makes even more of a difference. A solid full 3" exhaust should be on any 600+rwhp FI 5th gen.

Agreed, and I'm running 3.5 inch pipe and mufflers for the full length...

Nice find...

Only issue I run into is the 3 inch pipes rubbing on my crossmember (after market elite engineering )

So the 13 hp gain on a 600 hp engine would be approximately how much on a 1100 hp engine?

The drone from my 3" Magnaflow drove me insane. I am back to stock and ok with giving up 20-30+hp for comfort........ until someone kicks my ass.

Depends on setup. I've seen 60-100rwhp gains from a 2.5" to a 3" on a turbo setup. Plus the turbos spooled 400-500rpm sooner.

Drone also depends on whole system, headers, turbos, etc.

What setup do you have on your car?

Test would have been better had they jetted it to the 2.5" to show what it would really do, I'm sure the 3" jetting was a lot closer to the open header tune as they didn't show it, no doubt the 3" is better in high hp apps, just would have been a better test with everything being equal on the tunes.

On a high horsepower motor, a 3" exhaust offers more performance than a 2.5" exhaust. In other breaking news, water is wet.

My Magnaflow has zero drone. Infact this is the first time I've heard of a Magnaflow exhaust having any drone.

I guess every combination is different.
I have 3"magnaflow on my 67 and I love it.
Drone on my ZL1 I was so bad I was willing to give up Hp. Hopefully it's only 10 or 20 not 50.

What combination do you have? I'm just running stock manifolds, with turbos. No cats.
