LFX 6 speed VS Ford F150 w/ecoboost
My neighbor has a Ford F150 with ecoboost. He said he dusted a Mustang (unknown what engine/trans) at a red light.
I told him we should go to the track this spring and see who is really faster, my V6 in a Camaro, or his V6/turbo in his crew cab, long bed, 2wd F150. I'm just wondering if I would be toast if I tried to run him because I just looked up the specs on the F150 and there are 3 different variations on the ecoboost engine. His isn't a new truck, it's a few years old, but the numbers make me nervous.

If he is tuned for performance those things are fast. I owned a 2011 F150 FX4 with the 3.5 liter EcoBoost. I had it tuned and it was insanely fast (for what it is) especially with 4x4 boost launch.
The guy who tuned my F-150 had tune only EcoBoosts that ran 12.5 in the quarter... Being 2 wheel drive he might not be able to hook up well

Without the 4x4 launch i doubt he will be running anywhere close to 12s ...the 60 ft with 4x4 engaged is somewhere around 1.7. Thats where they are making ets....104 mph when tuned seems to be the norm. So it should be a good race if hes tuned..stock i think you will get him.

The torque is at low rpms, they lose top end push

My 2015 Silverado 5.3L with K&N Intake, Straight Exhaust, and Superchips Performance Tune programmed.
My Wife's 2015 Camaro 2LT with the 3.6L V6 and K&N Intake only... Both run exactly the same from 0-100... after that the Camaro is gone. Granted, my method of checking these numbers rely on an app called "Car Performance" on an Android system... anyway, it uses your phone's GPS to track movement and calculate the speeds, while running a timer once the vehicle starts moving. 1/8mi: 10.61 @ 76.71mph 1/4mi: 15.51 @ 95.35mph 0-60mph: 7.515sec 0-100mph: 17.574sec Does that sound about right? |

A few tricks will get anything with a turbo moving. I seen on run mid 13s with a tuner, intake and downpipe. I think stock your Camaro would win. But if your buddie is sneaky.......Could go bad for the Camaro. Two things I hate loosing to. Imports and pick ups.

losing to a tricked out import would not be as bad as losing to a plywood hauler,IMO.we have some crazy modded imports around here.

Disclaimer: I'm not rasist. But.The Imports at Atco are all Mexican or Purto Rican posses. The cars will make one clean pass out of ten. And they break more than they make clean passes. There will be 15 guys at the the starting line acting like they are staging a top fuel dragster. Only to run 12.5s! I respect the big boy imports like the cars that run in the pan American race. But those cars don't show up on Friday night grudge night. Just a bunch of axle snapping, oil dripping, junk yard turbo builds.

Those times (while I'm turning around) seem to fit with what you're suggesting as normal, but to me it's easily recognizable as slightly downhill... maybe if I could find a nice level section of 'good' pavement, I could get more realistic runs. Finding 'good' pavement in my part of Alaska is an adventure in itself. Still, I'm really happy with how my Silverado runs. I haven't played with launching in 4x4 and running it to over 100mph, but I do know my 0-60 is quite the head turner when launching in 4x4. |

I know I this thread is a little old but I just came across it and thought I would add some insight. One of my co-workers has I believe a 2015 f150 eco-boost and it's sneaky fast. He rolled up next to me in my 2014 stock SS LS3 and wanted to race. I didn't think anything of it till he had me all the way through 3rd gear. Granted, my tires were cold and I was spinning hard off the line, but they are quick! He told me he had some work done to it which makes sense for how hard it launched off the line. I will have a lot more respect for these from now on. He says he surprises people all the time with it.
