that map is for the compressor. I am guessing the tial housing is for the turbine side(exhaust side). that is a whole other map. they may have charts for those too.

that turbo will make a ton of power for you. if you pick a turbo that puts you in the middle of the map you end up going really large and it is laggy.

^^^ duh, i forgot that was the compressor side you guys were talking about. im going to agree here. Frumusa Performance tested all three SS turbine sizes tial offered and the best performing hot side is what they stuck with.

I dont believe the cold side was tested against others but im sure itll sing enough for me and the family to cruise around in.

Engine looks great, replacement parts are being ordered and long block is being assembled. Hoping to get some miles on it mid Aug and get to the track by the end of the month.

Heres my Uncle Rodney and old heads. They have a little damage but I'm hoping i can find someone that could use them.

makes you wonder why everyone has above .600 lift cams when the head flat spots at .600...

late update

Everything went back together nicely. fired right up, no issues but it was pouring out so the car hasn't been driven yet. With the lower compression and new heads im going to play it safe and let the tuner take another look at it. Were going to leave it at 10psi and see what it does. Stay tuned for upcoming track times and dyno numbers.

How did you get in touch with Gtrain41? I want to ask him about a forged short block and sent him a PM but it doesn't look like he is very active here.

Glad you got it back together ok. I lowered mine also to 10.5, we haven't seen any detonation in the logs whatsoever. I feel like I made the right choice on that decision. We will port the heads this winter and match the blower ports also.

I just put a down payment on an upgraded short block and cnc ported lt1 heads from gtrain on here.

Short block:
- brand new GM LT1 Engine*Block
- Stock wet sump Crankshaft
- Manley H-Beam Rods
- Manley 2618 Pistons 10.5:1 compression
- ARP Rod Bolts
- Premium Total Seal Rings
- Clevite Bearings
- Professionally Balanced
- ARP Main Studs

That's just about the exact same short block you've got, isn't it Greg?

did you notice any difference in power/drive ability with the decrease in compression? Am I safe to assume my car will make less power with the new engine leaving everything else the same?

less compression equals less power...you make that up by increasing boost.
