I may bow out from getting a z28 unless we get some good news very soon. This economy is not picking up and with gas heading to $5/gallon the zl1 is out.
I may get a regular 1ss 2012 Camaro as a fall back. But my preference has always been for a z28 just cannot hold out too much longer.

then again, I highly doubt this will happen as GM is spending lots of money into the production of this car and wants to sell as many as possible

the 4th gen SS was not faster than the z28 nor did it make more power on a dyno.Yes SLP and GM advertised more power but in reality were no quicker or more powerfull at all

5.5 Engine Z28
I really hope to see a cloth seat, de-contented, much lighter Camaro Z28 weighing in at less than 3500 lbs with the C6R 5.5 liter engine in it with direct injection and variable cam timing. This engine will be in base Vettes for 2012 at 440 HP, if I understood correctly. Cross your fingers.

I very much doubt 3,500 lbs is gonna happen based on what has been stated by those in the know in other threads.

I had gone to my local Chevy dealer the other weekend to check out the new convertibles. We got to talking about the ZL1 models, they told me the price will be right round that of the base model vette. Then they told me that GM is keeping it on the down-low, but there will be a Z28.

I sure hope so, I've read articles on the Boss 302, and it sure sounds pretty slick. With its owner adjustable suspension, that nifty "Track Key", performance build, and no frivolous extras, it sounds like my kind of car. What excites me more than that is the fact that GM always lets Ford run out the gate first, then one-ups them with their own model. The thought of a new Z28 Camaro that not only meets but exceeds the Boss by a bit makes me start thinking about trading up sooner than I'd originally planned.
