Yea I've wondered how the 2.5 vs 3.0 of the same exact exhaust would differ Guess you answered that lol. And yea most people say 3inch sounds deeper. But what if the 3inch exhaust has 2.5 inch connection at cats would that change anything soundwise?

Hmm I'm not sure what size the kooks cat delete is, but I'm not sure it would change the tone noticeable. I'm considering getting kooks 2 inch long tube headers and I'm not sure how that will sound with my exhaust setup. Hopefully, it will be deeper and does not add rasp haha

And lol that antifreeze
The 10 Series really do that. I have never heard them on the 5th gens, but I remember the handful of people that rigged true duals on the 4th Gen and stuck those single chamber mufflers on sounded, in my opinion, by far the best. Those are tough cars to make sound good thanks to the y-pipe setup. And the best part was the single chamber 10 series were some of the cheapest mufflers Flowmaster makes and didn't have the huge restriction inherent to their 2-chamber and 3-chamber counterparts.

I think they make the 10 series single chambers in stainless steel, now, too.

Magnaflow 3" is the deepest with stock manifolds. Measured just above 18Hz at idle. Db's are low, but if you ask for deepest, then it is the Magnaflow. They design for the cancellation of high frequencies.

Many if not all of the posts here are stating only subjective information and are confusing loud to deep. Stop by a decent stereo shop and get the freq. analyzer out. You'll see.

I have a solid roller, here's a dyno pull in 5th gear. .....SW retro chamber exhaust sounds pretty deep to my ears.

I'll second this. I am running DT shorties with OE cats (have to stay legal in Cali!) and the 3" Magnaflow Competition Series catback (has an X pipe in it). It is the deepest sound from an exhaust I can ever remember hearing. No rasp, a tad bit of drone at 1800-2000 but nowhere else...

What Is The Deepest Exhaust You Have Heard?

It's a not a Gen 5, but same platform in a 5-door, Aussie flex fuel version with VVT. Softish recording so turn it up, plus if ya wanna hear deep it's worth finding headphones or play through hifi with sub:

2011 2SSRS - SLP Loudmouth, ARH headers with HFC. Not too loud but loud as I want it to be to keep the neighbors happy.

Agree with you completely, a push rod V8 (Camaro) sounds like a muscle car from the original muscle car era, a dual over head cam (Mustang).....well......sounds like a Mustang.
