Am I driving my camaro to hard
Hey guys just thought I’d ask cause I’m curious . I got my camaro 2 weeks ago and I daily drive my camaro and usually It shifts between 3-4 rpms . And sometimes I’ll push it to 5 rpms if I want to feel happy 🙂. The question is can I push it harder and have the car be okay or am I pushing it to hard
Thanks guys |

I don't think its too hard for a high revving V6 motor. But I would use only synthetic oil and change it often as the LLT motor has been known to throw timing chains and have rod knock or spun bearing issues. So just take good care maintaining it.

It’s fine in those ranges. Check oil every 1000 miles as they’re known for having oil consumption issues. Do not go by the oil life gauge for oil changes. I stuck to every 3000 miles when I had my 2010.

It's a high revving DOHC V6, not an old push rod diesel. 4k+ rpms is just when the power begins.

I suggest letting everything warm up a little before you get on it. As far as i know, our cars were made to be driven like we stole em...to an extent

If you can’t smell the engine & the brakes when you step out of the car, you’re not trying hard enough.

You are fine. Just make sure you have a catch can.

I don't have a catch can yet, but I started getting a timing code P0008 and it went away after my ECM was reprogrammed. They say the 10's have wimpy timing chains in the 3.6l. But I highly recommend a oil catch, i've seen too much oil in the throttle body. Design should have included one tbh

I normally shift right around 7000 from first to second to third all in 6 seconds.
I change the oil twice a year with usually with 500 miles on it. |

The car knows what is best. It has a rev limiter to keep itself safe. I try not to punch it that hard because it is almost like hitting the brakes, but yes I've had it kick in. On my 2011 that is 7000.
