This is the front strut (note it does NOT come with springs):
Rear shock: The mounts that you need to get with the 1LE upgrade (only for rear shock): I honestly don't know the difference between the stock SS and the 1LE mounts. All I know is that they are relatively cheap ($40 each)

Alright now it makes sense. My Z/28 suspension kit came with whole shocks and struts including their mounts, which is why I was confused.

Ok so that is all that I would need just the mounts for the rear 1le shocks? The front are the same correct? What about an adapter for the rear end links?

You would need a FE4 style lower control arm if you are upgrading the rear sway bar. The change from the FE3 to the FE4/5/6 suspensions have completely different rear sway bars, end links, and new connection points to the LCA's. You would not, however, have to change the lower control arms to ONLY change the rear shocks.

You can install 1LE shocks/struts with the FE3 style suspension on the 2010 Camaro without a problem. Dex is just saying that if you were upgrading to the later FE4 suspension system, you would need different (2012+) rear lower control arms, FE4 sway bar end links, and of course an FE4 style sway bar.

The only thing that you have to consider when changing to the 1LE struts from a 10-12 are the FRONT endlinks. The 2010-12 V6/SS uses 10mm endlink studs where the 1LE and all 13+ Camaros use 12mm studs.
You'll either need to get endlinks that have a 10mm/12mm combo, Drill out the sway bar holes to fit 12mm studs and use OEM 1LE endlinks or we also have some bushings/sleeves available to take a 10mm stud to a 12mm stud. I suggest going with the DSE endlinks in this case as the factory links with 10mm studs are weak and prone to deflection and breaking with aftermarket sway bars. Let me know if I can answer any questions. Best regards, Tyler 888-308-6007 |

Here's a slightly edited picture from here
Both images are of a Camaro rear suspension. The upper one is the 2010-2011 FE3 style suspension and the lower one is the newer FE4 (2012+SS)/FE5 (ZL1)/FE6(1LE). You will see the only major difference between the two are the sway bars, endlinks and where they connect to the LCAs (minor differences between them are mostly limited to bushing types, component sizes, and shock types). The older FE3 attaches "inside" the rear shock/spring assembly whereas the newer FE4/5/6 attaches "outside". The shock/spring assembly attachment points are not changed. My point in the original post was that you only have to change the LCA's on your 2010-2011 Camaro if you change the sway bars and endlinks to the newer style. If you are only changing the shocks, the LCA's do not need to change.

Thanks for all the great replies guys. Just when I thought I was going to get some pretty good used 1le shocks someone beat me to them. Now my other question is should I go ahead and get some shocks from a 2012+ or will I be ok with 2010 ss shocks? Any modifications for those?

You would only need the upgraded mounts with the 1LE shocks. Any other SS shock will mount up without needing to change anything.
