Longer Iceolator bolts

If I want to use longer bolts because I am using 2 gaskets, what are the bolt specifications. The best that I can figure, they would be M8-1.25x140mm. Is this correct? Thanks, Jeff

You are correct sir!

I'd suggest a set of flat washers to match.

Not that I can see by searching their sites. The longest at Lowe's is 110mm, and I'm not sure if that is long enough for the bolt position where you've had trouble with thread tear-out.

Stuff like that is pretty tough to source locally... You could try a fastener place, like Fastenal if you have one locally. Doubt any place will have them in stock, you will more than likely have to order them online, or order them through your local fastener store.

all else fails, buy some RTV silicone gasket maker, and use the stock bolts. I've done it on 3 LLT's so far.

Measure the length of the bolt (in mm) you're looking to replace. Use the diagram shown on the boltdepot.com link above to guide you. Bolt length is the distance from the bottom of the head to the end. Add 10mm to that measurement. You need an 8mm diameter, 1.25 mm pitch, ### mm long bolt; where ### is the length calculated above. Sometimes written: M8 x 1.25 x ###.

The problem is that he's going to need a longer bolt in the rear position because the upper threads tore out. (From another thread in the LFX section).

oh, didn't know that.

wasn't there a vendor here, that sold the iceolator and you could get the longer bolts through them? I thought I remember reading that somewhere. i'll do a little digging and see if I can find it.

couldn't find it, but this thread might be helpful

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...ighlight=bolts

it links to that bolt website, but has the option for other lengths.
