Difference in SS LSD and ZL1 LSD - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

I just did a swap, and immediately noticed a major increase in traction. I was assuming the taller 3.73 gear might be a problem, but its not.

I instantly noticed that when going WOT, the traction switches from left to right sides very quickly and the rear kind of jerks but keeps me straight and the acceleration is much better with the new gear. I also noticed the Diff fluid GM recommends is different for the ZL1 than the SS.

So what exactly is the difference in the two LSD units? Because I can tell you, it is not just the gearing.

Anyone know for sure?
