trunions,pushrods,and header bolts

like it says gonna do a little add on in a few days. finally got a flat screen and cable so I have a few channels. now I gotta learn to stream. anyway do you guys know who makes the trunion bushing kit for summit? got some howards swedged push rods, and stage 8 header bolts. my question is: with these upgrades can I raise my redline up to like 6900? or 7k with no problems or will lifters hold me back? my redline is 6600 now if they are like the 4th gen Camaro I had GM had a 300 rpm buffer zone in them. so if my tach said 6900 it was really at 6600. is that true with our 5th gens also

Curious how the header bolts factor into raising your redline...

Anyhow, do you have an L99 or LS3? I can't remember. I don't see the point really if you aren't moderately/heavily modded, ie. cam, trunnions, and full bolt ons - since the stock cam will have peaked long before that (especially the L99 cam). If you are running an L99 I wouldn't risk it, especially if you still have AFM lifters, weak OEM springs, and the heavier valves. Risk vs. reward brother. Even with the LS3, you are still running up against a wall on the stock cam and valvetrain past 6500-6600. Just punishing the top end for no gain. This is just my opinion though.

Sorry Oldman, I don't remember how much you modded the car, so take my comment for what it's worth. Ryan at GPI set my fuel cutoff at 7200 rpm and my shift points at around 6700 WOT and you can see my mods in my sig below. I haven't gone anywhere near my new redline yet and likely won't until I upgrade the lifters. I am running LS7 lifters fyi.

As for the Summit trunnion kit, I am not sure. But I know Comp does a LOT of the rebrands for these companies.

CHE trunion kit is probably the best out there.

Like mentioned, valves and lifters are the weak spot of the L99.

These guys hit it on the head. It depends on your existing mods. Raising the redline is beneficial if your setup is properly dialed in and is built for it, but theres a lot of factors that work against you after 6600 rpms if you aren't set up for it. Springs, valves, intake manifold to name a few

Also the converter. So my peak power is at 7700 rpm but even with a Circle D converter with a flash stall of 4800 the rpms drop to the 6s on the shifts and it it just wouldn't be optimal to have a higher redline than 7600 because of that drop with the shifts

understood, the header bolts are preventative maint. as with the other adds. I cannot understand why though that the needle bearings were made with a flat side, so they can splatter all thru the engine after an over rev. I have an ls3 with a stick. stock cam. thanks for all the help everyone

Yeah, GM definitely failed on that one. Such an amazing engine design that has been destroyed many a time by an engineering oversight.
