I'm not sure if you guys base all this Shelby is a one line rocket, can't handle, not a track car but the ZL1 is rhetoric out of pure ignorance, insecurity, or both. Unless anyone here has read a comparison between the two, or driven them both? No? Nobody? Ok...

And forging the engine if you want to do it right and have it last a long time.

But it's debatable at what HP level you need to do that.

Here is the situation. The Corvette is Chevy's iconic king of the hill and it cannot be surpassed by the Camaro. There is an unwritten rule by Chevy that the Corvette will always be their #1 car. I remember back in 2000 when Ford released the Cobra R. Everybody was asking if Chevy would create an SS-R or some variation to compete with it. The answer was "NO". Why? A car like the SS-R would clearly tread on the Vette's turf and Chevy cannot have that. On the other hand, Ford ONLY has the Mustang. There is no "other sports car" above it, so it cannot be contained. Ford can take this thing 2,000 HP if they wanted and not step on another car's toes. Camaro vs. Mustang has always been the biggest rivalry in the auto world and will continue to be; however, the two companies are not playing on a level playing field. I own a 2SS LS3 Vert and like the Camaro the best, but I respect all makes if you've got something nice!

Absolutely! Could you imagine putting a '13 ZL1 or GT500 into the 1960s and 70s? They probably couldnt even fathom the characteristics and features these cars have.

GEEEZ BOYS!!! CALM DOWN!!!

I posted that for the first time and it was simply a genuine inquiry about other sorts of comparisons.

Sorry if I offended anyone. I am a pure Camaro worshiper too...I just wanted to see what we are being put up against. Didn't expect it to come down to you guys getting so pissed off about it.

Take it easy....chill bros!!

I'm old enough to remember when my 95 Mustang Cobra came with a 240hp 5.0 V8.

We're ALL winners here ...

It would definately be nice if they did that. But I think that the CTS-V's have proven that the LSA is more than capapble of lasting with at least 700HP w/o forged internals.

LOL

Both your 98 GT and my 95 Cobra are now beaten by V6 Camaro's and Mustangs!

I was at a car show last night and was talking to a guy who just got a new SS. The guy was brimming from ear to ear, and I enjoyed talking to him and sharing in his happiness.

They just need to make the Corvette even better. Raise the bar.

Ya, I need to go do some more research on the CTS-V forums for what people have done to the LSA and how far they've pushed it before stuff starts breaking.

I KNOW!

I put every dang product from Steeda's catalog on that damn car, save the supercharger.. It was crazy, the full G-Trac suspension, chip, full exhaust, 3.73 posi, 18" wheels with 285 Nittos, larger MAF and TB, cold air intake, plugs, wires, both coil packs, timing advance, under drives..

I ran a blistering 14.8 at mid 90MPH... (AODE)
