Metra vs Scosche

Im in the process of upgrading my stock radio for one these dashkits. Im really trying to keep it as stock as possible, meaning which dashkit offers features to retain onstar and xm radio, steering wheel controls and the vehice system configuration. Also on any of these dash kits are you able to change the color on them to set it to the stock ABL lighting. Thanks!

To answer your questions:

Both will retain the OnStar functions, The Metra kit has the module included, the Scosche kit has it as an option.

The factory XM tuner will not work with any aftermarket radio.

The Scosche kit allows you to program operating functions like door locks, climate control etc, just like the factory radio....the Metra kit does not.

The Metra kit has three color options on it's LCD display, red, green and blue, none of which match the factory lighting. The Scosche kit does not have this option.

I have played with both kits, and believe me, the Scosche kit is MUCH better than the Metra.

Your wrong about the metra display not matching the factory lighting. You have to customize the display color, the red, blue and green are the primary color buttons and you blend them to make any color you want. You sir didnt read the instruction manual

It does suck that the Scosche kit doesn't match lighting colors. And that the chimes sound like that of a toy. The other day I experienced the issue someone here mentioned where the chimes go off for no good reason and you have to open and close the passenger door, then restart ignition, or something to that effect...

There are pros and cons on both units. You have to buy what suits you the most. I went with the Scosche because of LCD screen other that I would have went the Metra kit.

Never got that far in the instruction manual, as I could not get the Metra kit to work for me.
