Hex vents and no engine cover
Wanted some advice, as I can potentially see an issue with my current setup.
Recently threw on a procharger, and to accommodate everything, the engine cover was yanked. I also have a set of hex vents installed My concern is water getting into the exposed coil pack wiring that is no longer covered. When driving it won't be any issue due to the airflow, but when parked and it pours, or when I'm washing the car water falls through. As I wash, it is easy enough to minimize the spray into the vents, but does anyone have a suggestion to cover them? Or is it even necessary? After a couple of washes, I've not seen any detrimental effects, but I figured it was worth an ask, especially as the rainy afternoon season is here (might also come into play during snow season, bc this is also my daily) |

Hex vents here 0 issues, even when I drove to CFest last year in a downpour for over an hour...
No pans for 3 years so far but, Houston may see more rain than we do in DFW... Wash - I just put a towel where the vents are over the engine — reminder to remove the towel ;o) -Don

Good to hear...the towel idea is perfect for washes.
No longer in Houston, and have moved to a drier climate, but we still have our moments of shitty afternoon downpours |

hammdo, is your car a daily? I REALLY want a vent of some sort, but I'm worried about getting all that water on it all the time.

Well, was for a while but I work from home so not any more.
Get the 14-15 GM heat extractor... That may be your best option... -Don

I had the Hex Vents installed on my 2011 SS stock hood for 3 years of daily driving with no issues. But I don't think they are made anymore. They were nice while they lasted. I sold mine when I got the MPD Cowl hood.
