SS to 1le

so I'm about to start my journey on converting my 2ss A8, into a 1le (atleast as far as suspension and brakes are concerned).

I've got the part numbers and the prices from various places. I plan on doing the brakes myself, but the suspension I may let the dealership handle it, and do an alignment afterwards. Therein lies my first hurdle.

I can get the 1le performance suspension package (including magride reprogram) for 1200 ish. I can get *just* the parts for ~$507.

has anyone gone that route, and been able to get the dealer to reprogram their mag ride? I can understand a fee or anything involved, but I can also understand them not wanting to due to some safety concern perhaps?

You plan on seriously tracking the car? The cars handle plenty good for an occasional track day from what I've seen or heard. As a DD their great so is the cash worth it?

yes I plan on autocrossing it. I just came into enough money from a diminished value claim to pay for all of it.

the car does handle decently for what it is, but it's lacking a bit from what I desire. Honestly, if I didn't have the money coming I'd just forget it and leave it as is, but seeing as how it is from a diminished value claim, I'm putting the money back into it to help offset said value for if I ever do decide to sell it.

I highly doubt you will be adding resale value to the car. However if u want it go for it.

OP: you definitely want the MRC reprogrammed to match the 1LE springs and anti-roll bars. Add in the FE4 control links (with their stiffer bushings) to complete the package. That would be the front ride links, front control links, both pairs of rear trailing links, and the rear knuckles.

That criteria isn't mentioned in the OP's post.

I would love to do this, but I don't really have a local dealer I can deal with that I'd trust. the only one I trust is a good 30 minutes away from where I live, and almost an hour from where I work. the "local" one, I wouldn't even trust for an oil change.

84051642 Right Lower control arm $91.71 1 $91.71

this is basically the list I have (prices from www.generalmotorspartsonline.com, as they seem to be cheapest)

can anyone see anything else I need? I've spent the better part of the past few days researching everything I can from feeds and other searches, so please don't tell me "the search button is your friend"

the best I can tell, it would cost around $507 for just parts, for the kit that you can get from gm (without the mrc reprogram), and this setup comes in at $965.64 (with upper/lower trailing links, knuckles, and front lower control arms)

Not converting but I'm doing the GM Performance kits this Friday. The lowering kit for a 7/8" drop and the ZL1/1LE FE4 sway bars with end links. When I was at PRI30 this past December I talked with the Chevy Engineers for 3 days on this and they told me the this is the kit that was made and tuned for the SS. That my ride, handling and stance will be perfect!
I did the suspension which on my 2011 SS and loved the ride so much better over the stock ride, not that anything was wrong with it. Driving for a living so to speak and having to do EVOC training yearly as well as driving my Camaro around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway every year, I know how I like my cars to handle and feel whether on a track or street. Just feels so much better and tight, and when it's tight, it's right!
Been sitting on these two kits (boxes) since December and now it's time to get them installed, bushings re-timed or cocked and 4 wheel alignment. Can't wait......

GM will not reprogram you MRC without buying the 1le suspension kit. You can get a MRC controller for I believe $900. I did the full package minus the brakes. is still has to much body roll for me. i have BMR adjustable sways and links going in it. The MRC reprogram is not harsh. its still fine for the street.

Full 1LE suspension, with BMR adjustable sway bars and links, GM aluminum cradle bushings, Hurst shifter with lighter reverse spring, TWM shifter knob, Tick level 1 transmission. I should have bought a ZL1

I did the kit for $1200 and had the dealer install with MRC re-programming. I also have the brakes. They are pretty easy to install but you will need a brake bleeder as you need to change the flex hoses. It also switch to the StopTech pads for less dust. Next I am thinking about ZL1 wheels and some sticky tires for the track. Have not had it to the track since the upgrade, but definitely much more responsive on the street.

ok so update. I've given my guy the parts list from above. He said he is taking that list and going to cross reference one of their 1le's to see if there are any parts I missed, and "fill in the blanks" as it were.

I've pretty much decided to get the suspension, with or without the mrc reprogram. He also said he's going to look into it and see what they can do. He casually mentioned something about the corvette's having a $350 update recently and that it may be a route I can take as far as price.

I doubt I'll spend the $350 if that's what it takes, as that is $350 towards a dsc controller.

You wouldn't happen to have the part# that I could use for a 2016 SS with MRC for the MRC Controller? I'm looking to buy the GM 1LE kit for my car. Thanks.
