I'd pimp it if it works.

He said in his original post he went to Pep Boys with a budget of under $100.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. Well, he has to do something more to decrease the heat soak, but I would think he could still come in at a very respectable price.

Ill tell you right now. Based on every aftermarket CAI I have seen so far, the only gain you are going to get is from drawing cooler air. This does not look like it will draw cooler air.

Unfortunately that saying, an intake is "just a pipe and filter" is wrong. Some big intake manufactures have gotten them wrong! Good luck though.

Won't work with this motor. You have to get out away from the engine to get any cold air. And cold air means more power. Looks good though.

Unforunately colder air is all you can gain at this point due to the MAFs interaction with the computer. The CAI companys well know it.

there are a lot of things to consider when building your own cai. the stock intake has an interior diameter of three , most replacement parts are 3 inch OD , so you have already restricted it by at least a 1/16 of an inch. plus when the air comes to a 90 degree elbow there are turbulence on the inside of the 90 that slows down the air. the air has to go around this turbulence slowing it . if you look at the stock shape it does not have a 90 degree bend. if you look at some KN systems you will see the maf sensor section is the same as the stock dimensions then there is a little swell to the sections before and after the maf. the black wing system is the proper shape but uses a stock box. i would like to buy the blacking and cut it apart and use the system my way. if you look at my thread you can see some of the pain in the butt project i bit off. i love the look of your system you just need to protect it from the heat. the best way to check if your cai is a cai put your hand on it after you drive it and you will be surprised at how warm your intake gets. keep it up with your diy mods
