Squeeky brakes

not necessarily a camaro question, my brembo's tend to squeek on slow stops. Any tips on stoping this? I had other cars that did this and was told by dealer that there was nothing they could do. I hate having this awesome car and stopping at a light and SSSSSSQQUEEEEEEEEK!

I have the same problem with my brembo's. Only at slow stops. Would really like to know how to fix this. I only have 700 miles on mine and just over a week old!

Me TOO!

I have the squealing brake problem too. I thought it may be the glaze and it would wear off, however, I now have 3300 miles on my car and it still happens.

I agree that it is embarrassing when you pull up to the red light with your beautiful new Camaro that everyone notices.....and it squeals.

There are several topics on this subject and I wouldn't be able to tolerate it either even if it really is normal. One member took off their pads, beveled the edges, sanded the faces with 80 grit paper, and cut a groove 3/4 into the pad face, and said this solved the problem. I also have read that Hawk ceramic pads stop the squeeking at the possible expense of loosing a little stopping power.

Its a common thing with high performance brakes. My SS does this and I have a friend whose GTR does this. I know of several others with the same condition. Its common and nothing can really done about it except to stop hard, all the time.

Like stated above. It's apparently normal for this type of brake pad. I'd say just live with it and tell people that it's the price to pay for 'super heavy duty stopping power' brake pads from Brembo...

I had the problem between 200 and 700 miles. I read on here that several very hard stops would cure this and it has. I havn't heard a noice since. It's worth a try!!!!

It's a Brembo issue with the pads and rotors...high performance pads are more likely to squeal. Every car with Brembos that I've owned has done it.

It's worth it for the stopping power!

maybe the exhaust note drowns out the squeal?

Mine do the same thing at slow stops. I brought it back to the dealer and they sad that there was oxydation on the rear rotors from transport. IMO its . Anyway they said they shaved about a mm of both rear rotors but its still just as load. Alot of people I have talked to with after market brembo's said that its a common trate with them. If its supposed to make that nosie then I can live with it.

mine does it too but i don't mind it. when stopping at that slow of a speed, the rotor passing through the brake pads creates that noise because it reaches some kind of natural frequency that we can actually hear. for me, it only happens if i take a little pressure off of the brake pedal to inch forward a bit. not really that annoying because at any other time of braking, they're quiet and powerful. but if you really can't stand that noise, there was a thread on here about the hawk pads. the performance pads may be your answer.
