After market spoiler install, on non RS Camaro's

There has been a few good posts on installing the after market spoilers.

I got mine from ebay.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/PAINT...item2a05fa13e9

I have included some pictures as I went thru the project. Total time around an hour. I was in no hurray. Can be done faster for sure.

Pictures along with the included instructions are pretty self explanatory.

Good luck.

Excellant job! Like the extra effort of touching up the bare metal after drilling!

Good effort but what about the stripes now. You've gotta get the spoiler painted with the stripes.

No stripes on my spoiler, going without them. I like to be different. That is why my Camaro build is a one of a kind. No other 2LT with IOM, IO interior and black stripes exist in Michigan yet. There are a few but they have the RS package or sunroof, neither of which I ordered. Unless you know the stripe was on the spoiler (from the factory) you won't miss it.

Thank - you for noticing, I read that as one of the tips. I have a can of IOM factory matching paint so I sprayed a small amount in a cup and brushed two coats on the exposed metal.

Did you use 3m tape when putting it on or did you just bolt it right up?

Is there a gasket of some sort to keep water from getting in around the bolt holes?

No, but that is a GREAT idea. If I should ever take it off, I will add the 3M tape.

Yes, there is a black foam gasket that sticks to the paint surrounding the hole.

I am surprised you did not put a washer under the bolt head to spread out the load on the sheet metal.

I never thought to try and spread the load. I did install a thin lock washer under one to see if that helps keep screw from backing out. I will check again in a couple weeks.

That's a good idea! I just sprayed some interior pieces IOM and some spots got a little nicked up on the re-install. I was gonna buy a tube of touchup, but I think I'll just do this instead.
