tranny smell

this isn't related to the recent transmission issues. I've had a sweet burning smell coming through the vents intermitantly for several weeks now. I couldn't pin point it's origin until today when I opened the brake reservoir cap and stuck my finger in the fluid. I've been told the hydraulic clutch and brake share the same reservoir there also is a change in the sound of the ranny once it warms up. Has anyone noticed this. 1ss manual with 2500 miles on it. I havn't driven like a mad man but haven't babied it either. I know it's not something burning off because it's not everytime I drive it. Happens most consistant when I'm going from 2nd to 3rd or coming off a down shift. I test road it with the service tech this afternoon and of course it chose today to not be as often as it's been. Any elp would be appreciated. I've got an appointment next week but thought I might ask here.

Sweet smell comming through the vents... might be related to your coolant/antifreez?

Yea sweet is coolant. Check coolant level and quality. Inspect for leak.

I would even have them pull a test of the oil for the tranny and the rear end. There is a test card you put a few drops on. Should be fine but check every juice.

Have you done any burnouts btw? Maybe your smelling glazed clutch but it's more like like burnt grass than sweetness of coolant.

Maybe I described the smell wrong. I would like to think it was normal clutch break in but it happened the second week I had the car then went away. At about 2000 miles it's back again. The hydraulic fluid has the same odor that is coming into the car, but the most annoying is it isn't consistant. other than I know it's going to happen in any ride I take but I can not say when I do this...it will make the smell.
Never done a burnout yet...Maybe that's the problem, car thinks I'm a wuss!

My car smelled the first few days and I assume it was due to the clutch. Smell stopped after the first 3 days.
