Can your Gen5 Camaro v6 beat the new 13' Mustang v6?
Can your Camaro v6 beat the new 13' Mustang v6? I just read an article on the new v6 Mustang and it looks very impressive and this coming from a strictly Camaro fan. I think I read 1/4mile in 13.9 and 0-60 times of 5.3 and under 3600lbs., 305hp and 270something(8, I think)tq. Maybe GM has something up there sleeve.

I saw a 12 tonight at the track that couldn't break a 14.57@97mph the whole night. Guy made about 10 passes while I was there.

Most of the time a '11+ V6 Mustang will beat a '10+ V6 Camaro (stock vs. Stock). Does anyone know if the LFX powered '12+ V6 Camaros made any significant acceleration improvements over the '10-'11 cars?

Other than sheet metal, there's nothing mechanically different about a '13 versus a '12. Mustang that is.

Not entirely true. The '13 automatics now have the performance package option that includes 3:31 gears. Also, the autos have a selectshift transmission to fix some of the laggy shifts the stock tune has. Not saying they are world beaters, but stock for stock, I think they CAN be consistently faster than the '12 v6 Mustangs. More than likely you'll be encountering the same base autos you've been seeing though.

Pull up this thread where the title and question is if a 2013 Mustang v6 will beat your Camaro v6 of any year. This is a VS. section of the forum. Since you calling me out claiming I'm re-posting another's thread topic.

Not that specific... someones review about 3-5 threads down. Same forum. All in all, beating the Mustang vs Camaro dead horse. Good form, good form.
http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=219998 EDIT: Take a good luck at what the thread evolved to. No disrespect, but its dead horse territory. You've got me on 1 point. 12' vs 12' and not 12' vs 13', although I still believe someone mentioned it briefly. Cheers. Last edited by Stealthpanda; 05-06-2012 at 01:34 PM. |

I've seen the thread and have asked and posted to this comparison before and it will always be about. They are for the most specific Mustang VS. Camaro threads be it a v8, v6, or either of the two modded or not. I'm glad to have got you on "one" point, thank you but that was the one point that my topic evolved around that was the question. So you have nothing better to do than tell me where you think my thread is wrong, a repost. Look around, everything's a repost then because its all the same topics over and over just slightly changed. Haven't you seen this before?http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=221642 I have but still like reading what the people have to say. Who cares thats part of the fun in the forum and maybe we like to know are questions to the specifications. Its just irritating that you would have to be a "debbie downer" on my thread changing focus. Oh well. Have a life.

Fair enough. That last thread degraded hard... I got involved too. I understand your inquisitiveness as well. Peoples hard-headedness really irks me. I just really thought, like mentioned above, the only difference between 12'-13' mustangs were body refresh. Options changes for V6 as well. Oh well, gives us more to work towards? Didnt mean to rub you the wrong way, emoticons are fun! Took my opportunity to use it. Cheers.

Sure, but the autos were never the fastest flavor of V6 Mustang either, quite the opposite. The manuals are still faster than the autos are, selectshift or not, and they(the manuals) aren't any faster than the '11/'12s were. Mechanically, it's still the same car. |

Whether its faster or not with the selectshift is undetermined as of right now. There have been no reports of 2013's running the 1/4 to my knowledge. When you see bench racing times of STOCK 11-12 V6's running 13.9's and such, it was more than likely a Performance Package with 3.31 gears. Manual base mustangs with 2.73's arent much faster than auto's when they are similarly equipped. Its yet to be determined how a performance package equipped auto will run (unless I missed a review somewhere) As far as the OP's question is concerned, its a dead heat between the BASE mustangs and camaro's. You are correct in stating that the V6 Mustang Automatic was a bit of a slug because of, at the very least, the slow as hell stock shifting. The selectshift will at the very least make up some ground on previous automatics. Combined with 3.31 gearing, you could very well be looking at a consistently faster car than the stock Camaro.
