Another new guy
So I'm new on this site and first time car buyer. I've been following the news on the 2010 Camaro since the concept was revealed and i can't wait to get my SS.
But I decided I couldn't wait to drive a Camaro. So my question is: Is $4,000 a good price for a 1974 Camaro LT considering that the first thing I'm going to do (withing one week) will be adding a new stereo, alarm, restoring the vinyl top, and new paint job. Or am I getting ripped off? Thanks for the help. |

thats a tuff question. since we cant see the condition of the vehicle.
but if you can see that it is in good condition, the engine is good, and other key systems are in fine working order. thats not a bad price. IMO

It's not in too bad of a condition the engine looks good and clean and runs fine. Other than that i don't mind having a project car. (I can always find something that I want restored).

It needs to be sound mechanically... how is the engine? trans/clutch? steering/suspension? check for rust.. etc. I would recommend getting it checked by a mechanic. Unless you can/want to fix all that ...

First off, welcome to the site! As far as helping you out on price....really...need to see it. It would have to be in fairly decent running condition for that cash. I'm sure others here will be able to give you some good advice. Throw up some pix if you get the chance.

I didn't have my phone with me so i couldn't get a pic of it. But from what i saw it needs a fair amount of work inside. However, the engine is in a surprisingly great condition. It looks the guy just recently worked on it. The outside is in a need of a paint job and it has very little rust.

We like new people! It's good to have you on board. Even if you don't get the new one, that classic will be a great contribution to our collective car compilation.
That looks slick with the white base and black stripes. What kind of project do you want to make of this beast?

I'm going to college next week so I'll be low on money for the next couple of years. So for right now I'm just going to restore it as much I can. At least untill I get my 2010 then it's my dad's project untill i get out of college.
Oh and I also found out that the previous owner just completely restored the engine and transmission. When I test drove it, it was so loud I just wanted to drive away and not go back. |

looks to me like it just needs a wash and it should buff up pretty well but it might not be as good in person i suppose

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!! BUT>>>>>
I want more pix!!! Great new addition, man. Keep it for good. Just put some work into it and get it running right. It doesn't need to be perfect yet. But, if there's no rust, that's a GREAT start. ....no replacing body panels, etc. |
